Life Questions

There are many things that we are prompted to follow in our lives. Consider some of objects, people, teachings and interests that have your attention and affection each day. How good are you at following instructions, directions, trends and personalities? Think about what you follow and how closely? Who you follow? Who follows you?

As an important theme in scripture, we are ultimately prompted to follow God's lead and direction with our lives' wholeheartedly. Here are a few key prompts and challenges in the Bible.

Exodus 23:2 ‘Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. Deuteronomy 13:4 It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Job 23:11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.

Psalm 23:6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Psalm 119:33 Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Psalm 119:80 May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. Jeremiah 7:24 But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backwards and not forwards. Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Matthew 4:19 ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’ Matthew 4:20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
