Life Questions

How much is enough? When have you got or had enough? Having and getting our fill of what we want and need in this world is a careful walk. As an important theme in scripture, God's economy profoundly differs from that of the world and counters and measures are behind many of the laws in the old testament. Take time to soak in some of these key verses from God's word.

Job 15:11 Are God’s consolations not enough for you, words spoken gently to you?

Job 19:22 Why do you pursue me as God does? Will you never get enough of my flesh?

Psalm 49:7-9 No one can redeem the life of another    or give to God a ransom for them— the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough— so that they should live on forever and not see decay.

Proverbs 13:25 The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, but the belly of the wicked suffers want.

Proverbs 23:4 Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist.

Proverbs 25:16 If you find honey, eat just enough— too much of it, and you will vomit.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.

Isaiah 1:11 “The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.

Ezekiel 34:18 Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?

Haggai 1:5,6  Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill.
